About Us
Preserving the legacy of Captain Joshua Slocum
The Joshua Slocum Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the life and legacy of Captain Joshua Slocum. We are headquartered on Brier Island, Nova Scotia where Joshua Slocum lived in his youth.
A Board of Directors came together in February 2026 to officially incorporate the new organization.
This summer, we will be setting up a display at the Slocum Boot Shop on Brier Island which provides a replica cobbler display from the 1850s when Slocum worked with his father on the island. We will also showcase Slocum memorabilia and information.
